This is an authentic antique German Salon Zither (Salon-Harfe), likely dating from the late 19th century. A hallmark of German folk music, this instrument features a striking black finish adorned with intricate chromolithograph floral patterns and a central “Nation” illustration depicting figures in traditional international costumes.
The soundboard displays a visible interior label through the soundhole that reads “Concert Salon-Harfe,” confirming its style as a “salon harp” or guitar-zither. It retains its original tuning chart across the bottom, featuring musical notation to assist the player. The craftsmanship is typical of the high-quality musical manufacturing found in regions like Saxony during this era.
